Stars & stripes

It's a stars & stripes New Years Eve. Yes, I realize I look like I am dressed for the wrong holiday. Who really cares?

Happy New Years!

Ugly Christmas sweater

I've always wanted to own an ugly Christmas sweater. They are kind of fun. So when I found this gem on super sale at Urban Outfitters I couldn't resist purchasing it. (They are having a extra 50% off sale items) When I got home I thorough read the tag and discovers it was a men's shirt, but who really cares? It is extremely comfortable and obviously I could talk about it for quite sometime.

Stay cozy,
Mae

In denial

Am I the only one who tries to deny feelings? Force myself to believe I feel a certain way only to find myself later admitting to myself that I really don't feel that way. I never really got the saying "be honest with yourself" until lately. It's a little bit trickier than I thought. {Ignore the vagueness of this post I just needed to vent a bit.}

Be honest, be true, be you.
Mae

Also, while I was stuck at my friends house I got some dog snuggles. Because I have no dogs at home this made me oh so happy.

Winter time

It a beautiful winter wonderland outside. Texas finally got the idea that it's winter. I'm currently snowed in at my friends house. Pretty much the best way to spend days like this. Full of movie watching and coffee. Oh, and don't forget freezing our tails off while sledding. But it was all worth it.

Stay warm,
Mae

More happiness

I know I blog about how happy life is all too often, but I say thats not a bad thing. I hope every person who reads my posts are just as jolly as I. Or that they bring joy to your day.

Every tuesday I go to lunch with my wonderful friends making tuesday one of my favorite days. Panera Bread quickly become our favorite eating spot. We sit and laugh while consuming way too many carbs. How can you resist their broccoli and cheddar soup in a bread bowl? I am feeling very blessed this afternoon by the wonderful friends in my life. We even ran into one of my best friends and her boyfriend there, so that added some extra joy to the day.
It's December 3rd and 77 degrees outside. Oh Texas. I wish that it was colder but enjoyed wearing my fabulous five dollar black friday find.
Much love,
Mae

These are the kinds of outfits I adore. The ones with very few pieces that you just throw together last minute and still look like you put a lot of effort into looking cute.

A little bit of life

There are less than two weeks left of this semester and I am oh so happy. After this I will only have one more semester of high school. Me oh my, time flys. I'm starting to get butterfly's thinking about it. Times like these I have to tell myself to just breathe and take it one step at a time. Right now I really need to focus on finishing this semester strong. (Not too excited about finals, but then again, who is?)

I hope all of y'all are in the Christmas spirit because it is such a grand holiday.

This is an outfit from a couple of weeks ago, but thought I might share it because I quite enjoyed wearing my suspenders.

Sisters Are Home

The sisters are home for Thanksgiving so we obviously had to take pictures. I needed to take pictures so that I had one to put in the senior section of the yearbook anyway. We asked my friends aunt if we could use her barn. It was the perfect location even though we aren't country girls. But when you live in Texas you are bound to take pictures in a barn at some point in your life.
Also, I was very impressed with myself for climbing this creaky barn in heels.

Hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
Mae

Chilly Day Bliss

It's one of my favorite times of the year. It is almost thanksgiving, the weather outside is brr brr brr, and my sisters are coming home soon!

I think I am the only person in my family that truly enjoys the cold. This is probably a good thing because a recent dream of mine is to move to NYC and go to Parson for fashion design. There is just something so fun about putting on a chunky sweater, a scarf, raincoat, socks, boots, and just bundling up. Thank you Texas for getting cold, please stay that way.

Stay warm,
Mae

All black with confidence

I am one of those people who chooses their outfit depending on my mood. Me, being my five foot self, feel short quite often and on those days I wear heels, if I feel lazy I throw on a big sweater and leggings, you get the point. Well today I really wasn't sure what my mood was but anything I put on ended up coming right off. After blankly staring at my closet and clothes scattered on the floor I finally decided on an outfit that was black from head to toe. It suited my unknown mood and the rainy weather outside. Usually I would stray away from wearing all black because it tends to look like one is going to a funeral, but on this day that mindset shifted because black on black is actually a very chic combination.

One major factor about pulling off the bold styles is confidence. My sister, Hannah, and I recently visited our sister, Sarah, in Arkansas and something Sarah's friends said about us when we left was that we looked like models. This was because of the way we walked, or strutted as she said, and held ourselves with confidence. Just believe in yourself and you can do/pull off anything.

A trip to Grandmas house

Oh how I dearly love my grandparents house. I will miss this place when they move. So many happy memories are tucked away in this home. Hide'n go seek, tea parties, going there every Christmas. Happy days, indeed.

By the way, my grandma makes the best fried okra.

Happy Thursday!

I have successfully had my first two weeks of school and had my first senior meeting today. Another exciting event that happened is that I buzzed/shaved the sides of my hair off. I feel super edgy and it makes me confident when I walk out of the house in outfits like the one I wore today (see pictures below). It is quite humorous to me how many guys have told me that my hair looks like theirs. Although, I most definitely give a feminine flare to this look. I was hesitant to make my hair this short but then decided why not? It grows out anyway. Spontaneity at its finest.

Happy Thursday all! I hope y'all have had a fabulous week,
Mae

Life & Overalls

Life is treating me so well. I have been so wrapped up in the future and what that is going to look like I forgot to focus on everyday and the peace of taking life one step at a time. Don't forget that everyday has its own beauty and is overflowing with Gods presence.

I have been on a quest all summer for a pair of overalls. I know what you are thinking, "why overalls?" There have been so many pins about overalls and Instagram posts with adorable ways to wear this 90's fad I just fell in love.
The expression on my face as I walked out of the store with the overalls in hand could not have been happier. I was so excited about them I changed mid shopping trip. I mean, who hasn't done that?

Much love,
Mae

I wore my overalls with a loose white tee and combat boots.

Embracing adventure.. and the rain.

My sister and I went exploring today, got smoothies, and watched Grey's Anatomy for hours. This seems to be what quite a few of my summer days have consisted of. At the beginning of today the house was vacant, no one home except my parents. Hannah was gone with her boyfriend and Sarah was with friends. While they were gone it got me thinking... It's not too long before summer is over and they have to leave again. I have such mixed emotions about school starting back. This will be my last first day of high school. Then I'm done. Forever. I'm not sure if this is exciting or overwhelming. I know this school year will be great and full of memories, but I also know how different it is going to be from any other.

I'm embracing the adventure,
Mae

Anyway, this is what I wore on this rainy July day:

What girl doesn't want to wear a pair of cheetah print pumps on a rainy day?

Rain makes me happy.
